Starting with the Basaglia Reform – which closed down mental institutions – this book traces forty years of History through an analysis of legislative and social trends, arriving at the very recent events of the Covid-19 period, which show how, even today, certain legislative, economic, diagnostic, and therapeutic tools can be turned into weapons, serving a system that sees children, families, and vulnerable people not as subjects to be protected, but as opportunities for profit.

Vincenza Palmieri, Ambassador for Human Rights and for Peace in the World, is the founder of the National Institute of Family Pedagogy, which she presides over, and of the International Program Living Without Psychotropic Drugs. An expert witness for the defense, she has dedicated her entire life to the pursuit of Social Reforms and to fighting diagnostic and psychopharmacological abuse.
