Bauman’s Heritage

Zygmunt Bauman was one of the greatest sociologist of the contemporary age. His theory about the liquid society can be considered a cornerstone of modern sociology. Carlo Bordoni analyses the thought of the Polish sociologist, driven by the necessity to preserve what is still sustainable in the modern age, albeit in a liquefied condition. The liquidity needs to be considered as an obligatory step to reset the social order and re-start from the beginning, aiming to recall human values that have been momentarily forgotten, first of all social solidarity.

Carlo Bordoni is a sociologist and a journalist, he is editor for “Corriere della Sera” and “La Lettura”. He taught at the Universities of Florence, Naples and Pisa, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, which he ran from 1990 to 2003. He knew Bauman in person and he had a fruitful exchange of ideas with him, which led to the realization of this book.
